Journey Towards Justice is an ongoing island wide campaign organised to stand up for violence against women and girls. On this day silent protests took place in several parts of the country such as Kandy, Puttlam, Batticaloa, Kilinochchi and Colombo. More details about this campaign
Civil society gathered in protest to call for an end to violence against women near the Boralla cemetery in Colombo on the 26th of May 2015. Some of the demands made at the protest were to seek justice for Vidhya and to expidite judgements in all rape cases.
Women of Wednesday condemn the use of the photograph of Vidya Sivaloganathan, which depicts her victimized by rapists and murderers. Even social media sites which supposedly support responsible reporting should be more sensitive to not contributing to her victimization.
