Program Manager – Gender and Politics

Women and Media Collective (WMC), a feminist, non-profit organization, seeks an experienced individual to manage their Gender and Politics program. The ideal candidate will be required to oversee the implementation of projects under this programme area as well as assist the Programme Team to further develop projects in this area and fund raise.

Responsibilities – (General)
• Conceptualize, strategise and provide leadership to the program area Gender and Politics under the guidance of the WMC Programme and Management Team
• Co-ordinating projects relevant to the programme area including managing partner organizations and field researchers
• Work closely with relevant State institutions while implementing a specific project
• Respond to current issues pertaining to the program area of Gender and Politics

Responsibilities – (Specific)
1. Ability to work in collaboration with experts in designing surveys and, managing research
2. Assist in the design and manage training programmes
3. Assist in the design and manage implementation of advocacy strategies
4. Manage project areas implemented by partner organisations
5. Co-ordinate cross project activities
6. Meet reporting obligations of WMC and project donors
7. Work closely with the WMC Programme Team in implementing the projects relevant to the programme area


• Bachelors degree in Political Science/Social Sciences/Women’s Studies or any other relevant field from a recognized university
• At least 3-5 years proven experience in a similar programme management capacity
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and other relevant computer skills
• Strong analytical, report writing and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Previous experience in working with State institutions and departments will be an added advantage
• Previous experience in handling media related work will be an advantage
• Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Sinhala and/or Tamil is essential
