WMC participated in the picketing organized on the 9th of January to condemn the killing of Sunday Leader Chief Editor Lasantha Wickrematunge and to protest against the suppression of media freedom. WMC also took part in the funeral rally of the slain journalist on the 12th of January and released a media statement condemning the recent attacks against the media.
