Short Film Competition 2023
Unpaid Care Work and care of the elderly and persons with disabilities.
We are looking for creative short film scripts that highlight the value of Unpaid Care work. Unpaid care work encompasses the work that is done in the home for the welfare of family members by mostly women and by some men. This work is interwoven with social expectations of familial duties and love and is carried out with no remuneration, not given and for the most part, not expected by carers in the family. Given that Sri Lanka has a rapidly aging population as well as a significant number of persons with disabilities, we are facilitating a short film competition that focuses on the care of household members who are elderly and/or disabled.
Send in short film scripts (duration 4 minutes or less) in Sinhala, Tamil, or English on or before 07th October 2022.
This competition is open to Sri Lankans only.
The competition will be judged in two stages. The first will be on the scripts that are received and the second on the films that are completed and submitted.
Free training in script writing and in short film production will be given by a renowned Sri Lankan film producer for those whose scripts are selected for the competition.
