Vacancy: Program Officer (Full-time)

Women and Media Collective is a feminist organization engaged in ideological and practical issues of concern to women in Sri Lanka. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about inclusive feminist ideals to join our team as a program officer. Essential Functions
  • Co-ordinate a project relevant to climate justice, including managing communications with partner organizations and field researchers as well as overseeing the project activity budget.
  • Work closely with relevant State institutions while implementing a specific project.
  • Respond to current issues pertaining to the program areas of the organisation in consultation with Management.
  • Work in collaboration with experts in designing surveys, coordinating research and field work.
  • Design and manage the implementation of advocacy strategies under the supervision of the program directors.
  • Manage the project implementation by partner organizations.
  • Co-ordinate cross-project activities.
  • Meet reporting obligations of WMC and project donors.
  • Work closely WMC Programme team in implementing projects relevant to the programme area.
Qualifications
  • A post graduate degree from a recognized university in a relevant area such as the social sciences, development studies humanities, law or women’s studies with at least 2 years of proven experience in a similar capacity.
  • Or an undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree in similar fields with at least 5 years of experience in similar capacity.
Requirements
  • Expertise and/or prior experience in climate justice
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to current socio-political trends in Sri Lanka and a strong commitment to social justice and feminist values.
  • Knowledge on conducting field work research.
  • Strong research and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Leadership, organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Basic graphic designing skills and experience in designing social media products.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in Sinhala and/or Tamil is essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer skills.
