{"id":13759,"date":"2021-10-23T07:57:32","date_gmt":"2021-10-23T07:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womenandmedia.org\/?p=13759"},"modified":"2021-10-23T07:57:32","modified_gmt":"2021-10-23T07:57:32","slug":"vacancy-executive-director-women-and-media-collective","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womenandmedia.org\/si\/vacancy-executive-director-women-and-media-collective\/","title":{"rendered":"Vacancy for Executive Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Job Description: Executive Director <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Women and Media Collective (WMC) &#8211; a feminist organization working on women\u2019s rights and gender equality &#8211; seeks a leader with strong feminist values as their Executive Director.\u00a0 The candidate will be a dynamic, experienced, values-driven leader capable of building on WMC\u2019s history of working towards social transformation through media advocacy, research, and coalition building.<\/p>\n<p>Once selected, the Executive Director will be responsible for conceptualizing the WMC\u2019s strategy for achieving its vision of a society built on the principles of equality and non-discrimination, and free from violence and militarization.\u00a0 The ED will be advised by two Technical Advisors, and will report directly to the Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Strategic Leadership<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead the strategic visioning, conceptual development, planning and monitoring of WMC\u2019s work.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee implementation of the organization\u2019s strategic plan, operational budget and fund raise.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate a leadership team of Operations and Finance Directors and Program Staff<\/li>\n<li>Foster a vibrant and supportive environment that promotes personal responsibility, quality work and commitment to WMC goals and values.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Internal and External Relations<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead all fundraising efforts to effectively sustain the organization.<\/li>\n<li>Represent WMC locally and internationally.<\/li>\n<li>Manage positive and productive partner relationships with funders, networks and with national and<\/li>\n<li>international organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Initiate, actively participate in and oversee internal processes for WMC staff that build skills and commitment to organizational values.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate effective, values-driven leadership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Qualifications<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A degree from a recognized local or international university in a relevant area including the social sciences, humanities, law, and management. (a post-graduate qualification will be preferred.)<\/li>\n<li>At least 10 years proven experience in a senior management capacity in a national or international organization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Competencies<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Commitment to and experience in leading with feminist values and shaping and sustaining a diverse, inclusive organizational culture.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge and sensitivity to current socio-political trends in Sri Lanka as well as a strong commitment to feminist values, principles of gender equality, and social justice are fundamental to this position<\/li>\n<li>Proven track record of fundraising and all aspects of donor relationship management.<\/li>\n<li>Financial management and oversight of large budgets.<\/li>\n<li>Strategic visioning and planning with experience growing an organization while ensuring national and global relevance.<\/li>\n<li>Proven track record of publications<\/li>\n<li>Personal integrity and transparency, serving as a role model for others.<\/li>\n<li>Effective communicator with enthusiasm and willingness to champion WMC values.<\/li>\n<li>Keen appreciation of quality and standards with ability to take responsibility for delivering results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Remuneration<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience and skill.<\/p>\n<p>Application: Submit to <a href=\"mailto:wmcsrilanka.recruit@gmail.com\">wmcsrilanka.recruit@gmail.com<\/a> before <strong>June 15<sup>th<\/sup> 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only shortlisted candidates based on the criteria listed above\u00a0 will be contacted.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/womenandmedia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/ED-Advertisment-01.06.2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here to download vacancy<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Job Description: Executive Director The Women and Media Collective (WMC) &#8211;
