Women and Media Collective is a feminist organization engaged in ideological and practical issues of concern to women in Sri Lanka. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about inclusive feminist ideals to join our team as a program officer. At WMC we are committed to fostering activism which is guaranteed to be an enriching experience for the ideal candidate.<\/p>

Essential Functions<\/h5>
  • Co-ordinate a project relevant to climate justice, including managing communications with partner organizations and field researchers as well as overseeing the project activity budget.<\/li>
  • Work closely with relevant State institutions while implementing a specific project.<\/li>
  • Respond to current issues relevant to the program areas of the organizations in consultation with management.<\/li>
  • Work in collaboration with experts in designing surveys, coordinating research and field work.<\/li>
  • Design and manage the implementation of advocacy strategies under the supervision of the program directors.<\/li>
  • Manage the project implementation by local partner organizations.<\/li>
  • Co-ordinate cross-project activities.<\/li>
  • Meet reporting obligations of WMC and project donors.<\/li>
  • Work closely WMC Programme team in implementing projects relevant to the programme area.<\/li><\/ul>
    Qualifications<\/h5>
    • A post graduate degree from a recognized university in a relevant area such as the social sciences, humanities, law or women’s studies with at least 2 years of proven experience in a similar capacity.<\/li>
    • Or an undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree in similar fields with at least 5 years of experience in similar capacity.<\/li><\/ul>
      Competencies<\/h5>
      • Knowledge and sensitivity to current socio-political trends in Sri Lanka and a strong commitment to social justice and feminist values.<\/li>
      • Expertise on climate justice would be an added advantage.<\/li>
      • Knowledge on conducting field work research.<\/li>
      • Strong research and communication skills.<\/li>
      • Strong analytical and report writing skills.<\/li>
      • Leadership, organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.<\/li>
      • Basic graphic designing skills and experience in designing social media products.<\/li>
      • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.<\/li>
      • Proficiency in Tamil is essential.<\/li>
      • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer skills.<\/li><\/ul>
        Remuneration<\/h5>
