Sri Lankan Civil Society condemns Muslim MPS attempt to derail MMDA Reforms – Statement

In a historic move, over 145 civil society personalities including academics, professionals and human rights advocates and over 44 organizations, declare their support for Sri Lankan Muslim women and girls agitating for long years for reforms to the Muslim Marriage and Divorce (MMDA). Solidarity for Muslim women victims and activists is an open acknowledgment of and show of solidarity for the citizenship rights of Muslim women. The statement below condemns the regressive stances endorsed by Muslim Members of Parliament (MPs) and their failure to provide representative leadership in relation to MMDA reforms.
