A banner campaign for the Vesak month was launched by the SLWPD, demanding an end to the war. All the slogans used were related to Buddhism, and 36 banners were designed in Sinhala. These banners were displayed near pandols (the lighted structure used for Vesak), famous temples and at major roundabouts in Colombo, Anuradhapura, Katunayake, Polonnaruwa and Galle.
