To mark international women’s day 2022 awards for excellence for lifetime achievement in journalism was presented to five women journalists on International Women’s Day.

The awards were presented to Annalakshmi Rajadurai an editor of many Tamil literary writings and cultural magazines published by Virakesary, Ananthi Balasingham lecturer in journalism at the Colombo University, Open University and Sri Lanka College of Journalism, Leela Rammaih who has an excellent record of covering critical social issues and has worked tirelessly to bring about social justice, Furkhan Bee Ifthikar is a radio presenter at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Coorporation and Visalachchi Hameed a leading Tamil announcer at Radio Ceylon.

The event was organized by Tamil Speaking Women Media Organization and Rainbow Institute the event was supported by Women and Media Collective.
