South Asia Consultation on the Global Compact for Migration

MigrantForum Asia Mfa in collaboration with the Solidarity Centre South Asia office organized the South Asia Consultation on the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) on 4-6 July 2019 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Building on previous national consultations on the GCM and SDGs as well as the recently adopted Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA) and its network continues to engage on the implementation, follow up, and recommendation (IFUR) stage of the Compact.

The sub-regional consultation had the following objectives:
1.Discuss synergies between the Regional Consultative Processes (RCPs) and the implementation of the GCM;
2. Discuss and provide updates on the Colombo Process (CP), Abu Dhabi Dialogue (ADD), and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC);
3. To identify the sub-region focus areas vis a vis the twenty-three (23) objectives of the GCM; and
4. Identify initial national focus areas in accordance to the sub-region focus areas
