Press Release: WMC condemns the attack on HNDA students

2nd October 2015

Press Release

Women and Media Collective condemns the police attack on students of the Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (HNDA) while they were protesting opposite the University Grants Commission in Colombo on the 29th of October 2015. We express our deep concern on the manner in which this brutality occurred especially involving the female student as there were no female police officers present when the attack occurred. We urge President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe to conduct a formal and impartial investigation regarding this incident.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Sepali Kottegoda
Executive Director
