ACTFORM capacity building initiative

To strengthen the capacity of government officials for the protection and promotion of the rights of women migrant workers and their families the Action Network for Migrant Workers or ACTFORM met with government representatives, members of civil society and the media on the 22nd of September 2015 in Nittambuwa.

Through this meeting ACTFORM hopes to build awareness and provide information regarding the issues faced by migrant workers especially when the women have to send in their family details when seeking employment.

The meeting was organised by a member organisation of ACTFORM, the Diriyasaviya Women’s Organisation, an established women’s rights group in the area. Sri Lanka Foreign Bureau’s (SLBFE) Additional General Manager, Mangala Randeniya was the resource person.
