The MDL printed leaflets in Sinhala and Tamil which highlighted the demands of women as they celebrated international women’s day for 2008. The leaflet demanded that the rising cost of living affected women the most and requested that all women in Sri Lanka unite to call an end to this situation.

To mark International Peace Day on 21st September 2007, a street exhibition of creative artwork designed by women was held. The artwork banners were based on the theme of peace, and were designed by women’s organizations from different areas aroundSri Lanka. The WMC organized this event.

A feminist film festival was held on March 26th, 27th and 28th 2007 at the Russian Cultural Centre to celebrate the International Women’s day.
