Sri Lanka parallel report for Beijing+25 review process

The 25th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference and the formulation of the Beijing Platform for Action falls in 2020. Since 1995, at 5 year intervals governments as well as civil society have been engaged in reviewing the implementation of the BPFA towards assessing achievements relating to ensuring women’s rights and gender equality in respective countries. In Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Women’s NGO Forum and the Women and Media Collective have been involved in organising civil society consultations in the 5 year intervals of the process since 2010. Organisations such as the Centre for Women’s Research have been involved in review processes as well.

To finalise this year’s parallel report from Sri Lanka the Women and Media Collective invited women’s rights activists and civil society groups to contribute their expertise for the draft report. The draft report was compiled in consultation with a number of women’s organizations in Sri Lanka using the guide questionnaire that was provided by the NGO CSW New York Committee.
