The newly elected local councilors training comprised of 30 women local councilors who were elected from the Kurunegala District. These women local councilors were elected under the recently introduced, 25% quota for women, a law part of the Local Authorities Amendment act which was enacted in 2018.

The training was a two day residential workshop and was held on gender equality and social inclusion policy making. The training was organized by the Women’s Resource Center in Kurunegala and supported by the Women and Media Collective.
