Training on script writing – Short Film Competition

The Women and Media Collective’s Short Film Competition received many wonderful screenplays, the screenwriters who were shortlisted received a two-day training program on script writing and directing. The training program, which maintained social distancing precautions, was held on the 28th and 29th of August in Colombo. Veteran award winning director and lecturer of film studies, Mr. Sudath Mahaadivulwewa was the chief resource person and provided participants with his insight and expertise in filmmaking. Women and Media Collective program director Dr. Sepali Kottegoda focused on raising awareness on the importance of acknowledging unpaid care work performed by Sri Lankan women.

A panel of independent judges will be selecting the best of the participant short film submissions to be screened. Stay tuned for the The Women and Media Collective’s Short Film Festival in November 2020. The screenings will be followed by a prize giving ceremony for the Best Short Film and Best Screenplay.
